A Missouri State Safety Inspection is often a requirement by the state of Missouri any time you need to renew your plates or purchase a used car. The goal of the Missouri State Safety Inspection is to make sure that your vehicle is safe for you, your passengers, and other citizens while you are on the road. A Missouri State Safety Inspection is a requirement set by the State of Missouri for all vehicles minus exemptions. If your vehicle is already registered, you will receive a renewal notice in the mail from the Department of Revenue. This renewal notice will notify you if a Missouri State Safety Inspection and Emissions test is required when re-registering your vehicle. If you have purchased a used vehicle and are unsure if you need a Missouri State Safety Inspection, we recommend checking the Department of Revenue Motor Vehicle page for insight on the inspection requirements. When you visit an authorized Missouri inspection station, we will perform your Missouri State Safety Inspection. If you pass the inspection, you will receive a Certificate of Inspection and Approval that you will bring with you to register or renew your plates. This certificate is only valid for 60 days if it is a renewal and 90 days if you purchased the vehicle from a Missouri dealer.
